LIFE magazine assigned photographer Philippe HALSMAN to go to Hollywood to photograph Marilyn Monroe in the small studio appartment that she had in Hollywood. The resulting cover photo gave her the status of a STAR and her studio 20th Century Fox then readjusted her contract.
