Donald Trump prometió “comprar estadounidense y contratar estadounidense” pero los productos de su hija Ivanka son una excepción y en los meses desde su llegada a la presidencia toneladas de zapatos, bolsos y ropa han salido de China dirección a Estados Unidos, según registros de aduana examinados por la AFP.





Mientras que el nuevo presidente de Estados Unidos acusó en campaña a China de “robar” empleos estadounidenses produciendo más barato, los productos de su hija Ivanka se fabrican en ese país.

Desde la elección de Trump, al menos 1.600 billeteras de cuero, dos toneladas de blusas 100% poliéster y 23 toneladas de zapatos Ivanka “made in China” han cruzado el Pacífico.

Una mercancía repartida en más de 80 cargamentos: prácticamente uno por cada día laborable ha pasado por la aduana estadounidense desde las elecciones del 8 de noviembre hasta finales de febrero. Y ello, a pesar de que Donald Trump atacara virulentamente a las multinacionales que deslocalizan su producción fuera de Estados Unidos.

Los pedidos siguen llegando, según las empresas chinas que fabrican estos productos.

Los negocios de la hija del presidente son objeto de polémica desde que el distribuidor Nordstrom decidiera, a principios de febrero, retirar la línea Ivanka Trump de sus estantes. Nordstrom negó que la decisión obedeciera a motivos políticos y se limitó a explicar que la marca ya no les reportaba beneficios, especialmente desde finales del año pasado.

– 1.200 cargamentos –

La decisión de Nordstrom fue fuertemente criticada por el presidente estadounidense, que incluso animó a sus simpatizantes a comprar los productos de su hija, y por su círculo.

Ivanka Trump no ordena directamente que sus productos se fabriquen en China: esta decisión proviene de las empresas de confección como G-III, bolsos Mondani o calzados Mark Fisher, a quienes la hija del presidente confió su marca.

G-III vendió en 2015 29,4 millones de dólares (27,7 millones de euros) en productos con la marca Ivanka, según el informe anual del grupo, que no precisa los países en los que se fabricaron esas mercancías.

Con todo, la de Ivanka no es la única línea de la marca Trump de fabricación china. En los últimos 10 años, más de 1.200 cargamentos de productos con el apellido Trump llegaron a Estados Unidos desde China continental o Hong Kong, según datos de las aduanas estadounidenses consultadas por el gabinete anti-Trump “Our Principles PAC”.

Atacado durante su campaña, Donald Trump defendió que su familia hubiera cedido su apellido a empresas que producen en China por razones económicas bien estudiadas, al tiempo que criticaba a grupos como Ford o Nabisco por sus deslocalizaciones.

– ‘Repatriar empleos’ –

En su intervención ante el Congreso, Donald Trump se jactó de haber convencido a Ford y otras multinacionales de repatriar una parte de su producción. Pero no ha dicho una palabra sobre los negocios de su hija desde que fuera elegido.

Tanto Donald como Ivanka Trump aseguraron que ya no se ocupaban de sus intereses comerciales, confiados a sus allegados mientras el multimillonario siga en la Casa Blanca. Pero tampoco han vendido sus empresas, lo que los autorizaría a retomar las riendas de sus negocios una vez finalizado el mandato de Trump.

A finales de febrero, Ivanka asistió en la Casa Blanca a una reunión en presencia de una decena de representantes de la industria estadounidense en la que su padre prometió “hacer todo para repatriar empleos”.

Un portavoz de la marca Ivanka aseguró a la AFP que la empresa “compartía el interés de los jefes del sector para aumentar la presencia de la industria en Estados Unidos” y que “estaba ansiosa por participar en esta conversación”.

Pero, al parecer, no inmediatamente: al menos una empresa del sur de China ya ha recibido un pedido de 10.000 zapatos para la próxima temporada, según el diario chino Global Times.
