Harvey provoca graves inundaciones, recuperarse de la devastación tomará años (fotos)

El poderoso huracán Harvey se degradó a tormenta tropical pero sigue afectando a Texas, dijeron este sábado meteorólogos de Estados Unidos, que advirtieron que el fenómeno está provocando “inundaciones extremadamente serias”.

No se espera que Harvey se mueva mucho durante los próximos días, por lo que la costa texana va a recibir enormes cantidades de lluvia, según el Centro Nacional de Huracanes (NHC), que advirtió que “lluvias de esta magnitud (más de 100 cm en algunas comunidades) causarán inundaciones catastróficas y amenazantes para la vida de las personas”.

Años para recuperarse





A los pueblos y ciudades golpeados por el huracán Harvey les tomará años recuperarse de la devastación creada por esta enorme tormenta, dijo este sábado el jefe de la agencia federal de emergencias de Estados Unidos (FEMA).

“Este va a ser un largo y frustrante proceso sin precedentes para el estado de Texas”, dijo a la cadena MSNBC el director de la FEMA, Brock Long, mientras las autoridades evaluaban el daño causado por Harvey, que deja lluvias torrenciales en la zona, ha destruido viviendas, derribado tendidos eléctricos y forzó a evacuar a miles de personas, reseña AFP.
