The Faculty of Juridical and Political Sciences of the Central University of Venezuela -UCV- calls the electoral fraud of the dictatorship “illegitimate and irresponsible” and guarantees the constitutional continuity of the National Assembly and rejected the attempt of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship to orchestrate an electoral fraud next December and at the same time it endorsed the constitutional continuity of the National Assembly elected in 2015.

“The voters have been called to a process plagued by vices that make it irrational from any point of view, both for the reiterated and numerous violations of the constitutional and legal norms that regulate the electoral processes in Venezuela, as well as for the unexistence of the minimum guarantees that allows a result that reflects the expression of the sovereign will of the Venezuelan society”, as per a statement divulged to the media.
Likewise, the academics assure that “the aforementioned call for elections is part of a chain of events that are part of an institutional framework characterized by a gradual and progressive deterioration of the democratic system and institutions and a systematic violation of the rule of law in Venezuela, especially since 2014, as has been stated by the UN Human Rights Council, the organ of the independent international fact-finding mission on the Bolivarian Republic in its recent report dated September 15th, 2020.
“Among the many violations that are added to those perpetrated in previous events, the intention is to form an National Assembly of 277 members, in grotesque and flagrant violation of the mandate contained in Article 186 of the Constitution,” they stated.
